Specifications of ModCon Campers Elysium HF, Imperial HF and Quattro Campers

The ModCon HF range was designed for incredible ease of operation as well as speed in setup. Though the very design ensured we met these parameters, the inclusion of a simple winch has ensured total confidence to all our customers in the knowledge that any and all of them can single handedly setup and put down any of our HF range of camper trailers

Construction

All vehicles are totally manufactured at our plant in Capalaba Queensland. We construct both the metal and canvas components of our campers. After initial manufacture the vehicles are fully powdercoated prior to assembly.

Chassis

On both the Elysium HF and the Imperial HF chassis is contructed using pre-stresssed 75mm x 50mm x 3mm Algal steel with 100mm x 50mm x 3mm Drawbar. The Quattro however is made slightly differently where the chassis is manufactured using 50mm x 50mm x 3mm Algal steel with 100mm x 50mm x 3mm Drawbar.

Panels

The panels are constructed from 1.55mm zinc anneal sheet steel strengthened in specific areas of high load utilizing various methods. The floor sheets are 1.9mm zinc anneal sheet.

Suspensions

All vehicles use Vehicle components Cruisemaster Coil Trailing arm independent suspension specifically designed for rugged off-road use. The suspension is designed to carry up to 1600kg load. It utilizes variable coils, 50mm axles with SLM (parallel) bearings.

Electric brakes are standard on the trailers. All trailers are suppled with 16 x 8 alloy rims using 265/70 R 16 tyres, All vehicles are offered with the option of matching the tow vehicle’s wheels where possible.

Couplings

All vehicles are supplied with Hyland off road couplings bolted to a recessed coupling plate. The Vehicle Component DO35 is also offered as an option.

Jockey Wheel

All vehicles are supplied with an Australian Jockey wheel assembly utilizing a large puncture proof wheel. Deluxe swing down stays are utilized, two on the rear and two at the front of the body of the trailer. All trailers have removable Stoneguards attached to the drawbar with large mudflaps assisting to minimise stone damage.

Accessory Carrier

The Elysium HF is fitted with Towbar type receivers at the rear to accommodate possible accessories like bike racks., The drawbar can be lengthened on the Imperial HF and Quattro and this attachment put at the front of the luggage compartment between the drawbar members.

Spare Wheel.

All vehicles are supplied with a spare wheel identical to the other wheels. They carry the spares on the rear. The Imperial HF, Quattro and the Imperial HFD carry the spare on a rear swing away carrier  The Elysium HF is fixed on the rear.  The Imperial HFD carries two sparea on the rear carrier.

Gas Bottles

All vehicles are supplied with two 4kg POL type gas bottles. The Imperial HF and Quattro carry the bottles on either side behind the guards. The Imperial HFD has both on the passenger’s side. The Elysium HF carries the bottles on the front directly in front of the luggage compartment. The gas is then piped to the rear inside the main chassis member and exits again at the rear of the vehicle.

Jerry Cans

ModCon Campers designed and manufacture their own Jerry can holders, suitable for inclusion on the forward fold type campers, The cover plate stops theft of the jerry cans when clipped up, but after simply removing the plate the jerry can can be removed without lifting above the holder. The Imperial HF and Quattro have two of these on the front in front of the luggage area. The Elysium HF has two on the front and a further one on the rear.

Kitchens

The Imperial HF kitchen is situated at the rear of the camper and is accessed by a tailgate type swing around a total of 270 degrees. This places the kitchen at the side of the vehicle. We use a Cramer combined sink cooktop which has two glass lids (suitable for food preparation and splash backs. The unit has a 3 burner stainless cooktop with auto ignition. Water is fed to the sink unit via a 12lt per minute Electric water pump. There is storage under the hotplate and sink and a large draw is installed for cutlery etc..

The Quattro kitchen is swung the same way as the Imperial HF kitchens, but can also be used overnight 90 degrees to the rear of the camper.attached to the rear tailgate. When in use it protrudes to the rear of the camper. The kitchen consists of a storage unit, draw, a Smev 3 burner hotplate with a folding glass lid . The sink unit is also a Smev unit with a folding glass lid. A large stainless bench(self supporting) can be attaqched to the end of the kitchen.

The Elysium HF kitchen is a pull out type kitchen at the rear of the vehicle. It pulls out providing a large storage draw  The hotplates and sink units are both separate units mounted into a stainless steel top. Both units are manufactured bu Smev, the hotplate having 3 burners with auto ignition and the sink unit has a mixer which is connected to both hot and cold water. Both Smev units have glass lids suitable as work areas as well as splashbacks. The kitchen has a fold out stainless bench of about 500mm by 800mm.

The Elysium HF is supplied from the water tank (120lt) by a 12lt per minute Flo-Jet waterpump situated in an area further forward. Water is thus supplied to the kitchen as well as the driver’s side of the vehicle under pressure. Standard inclusion is a Webasto Diesel Heater and hotwater system, connected to sink mixer.

Webasto Diesel Heater

Both the Elysium HF and the Imperial HFD have the Webasto Diesel Heating system as standard inclusion.  The kitchen units are both supplied with hot and cold water.  Both vehicles now have a swing out rear shower mixer at the rear which offers easy access to the mixer from the ensuite tent also included on both models.

Bed Base

All vehicles share the same bed base which is constructed of 3mm Aluminium and a composite material for strength and lightness. The Bedbase is hinged forward for access and setup and is assisted with gas struts. Automotive seals are used for sealing against dust and water.

Canvas

The canvas used is all sourced from WCT in Maitland NSW. This canvas is known as amongst the best in the world. We use only YKK and Pascal zips. ModCon Campers have their own canvas section which is held in high regard in the industry. The canvas tops have the capability of being rolled up on both sides. Both vehicles are supplied with an awning, poles, spreaders, ropes and pegs. Walls, draft skirts and Ensuite tents are options.

All Canvas tents on our hard-floor range have what is known as a’Tropical Roof” as a standard feature.

Layout

As previously stated, all vehicles are forward folding type campers, access inside is made via a door on the passenger side in front of the wheel arch on both the Elysium HF and the Imperial HF and access to the Quattro is via the rear access door.. The internal dimensions of the passenger or living area are all 1800mm by 2200mm. The sides of the Imperial HF and Quattro are 600mm and the Elysium is 650mm. Both The Elysium HF and the Imperial HF are supplied with a rear lounge/bed area comprising two hard back cushions. When in the bed position the width is approx. 1100Mm by 1650mm. This area is large enough to sleep two young children. The Elysium HF also has fixed cushions over the internal guard areas.

The Quattro is designed to sleep two on the Queensize bed and the living compartment has a further two beds, running the length of the compartment with a walkway between. These beds lift up to access storage underneath.

Storage

A considerable amount of storage is available in the living compartment even after the vehicle is closed. Further storage is available on all vehicles by virtue of the huge front storage area.On the Imperial HF the storage area is divided into two, the passenger side having a slide 800mm and sliding 600mm. This is suitable for a pantry system or to carry a fridge, eg.Engel 60l or Waeco 80lt. This then allows a huge storage area accessed from the large door on the driver’s side or by the lift up step in the living area. This storage area is approx 1150mm by 1100mm and is 550mm in height.

All vehicles have a compartment inside the storage area for storing poles and spreaders.

The Quattro front storage area is exactly the same size as the Imperial HF, but is arranged differently. The passenger side slide is 1200mm long by 800mm wide so can store a fridge as well as pantry containers. A divider then separates the storage area making a separate compartment on the driver’s side.

The Elysium HF front storage compartment is larger, outside dimensions being 1750mm wide, 1300mm front to rear and 600mm in height. It is divided in its width into 3 compartments. The passenger side having a slide 600mm long and 900mm long. The centre compartment is accessed by lifting the internal step/dor and cantains a slide for cloths storage etc which is 1200mm long but approx 500mm wide. The driver’s side partition is accessed via the large external driver’s side door or alternatively by the door separating it from the living area. This means easy access to such things as porta potties via both doors.

Electrical Systems

All vehicles come equipped with battery systems as standard. The Imperial HF and Quattro have a battery compartment on the driver’s side immediately forward of the wheel arch. It contains 2 x 75 amp. Exide Hybrid batteries giving 150amps. Wiring consists of 2 duel outlets inside the living compartment, on opposite sides of the vehicle, a duel outlet on the exteria near the kitchen position and a single outlet in the pantry/ fridge compartment. A Baintech Blade fuse unit is used and Anderson plugs are fitted to the drawbar at the coupling and directly on the outside of the battery locker.

The Elysium HF is supplied with 2 x 100amp AGM batteries fitted inside a dedicated compartment inside the living area directly above the axle assembly. The Elysium HF is supplied with a 120 watt folding solar panel.

Both the Quattro and Elysium HF are wired for 240 volt with double outlets in the front storage compartment as well as the living compartment.

All vehicles are supplied with an internal LED strip light attached by velcro to the ceiling. Taillights are also LED.

The Imperial HFD is supplied with two batteries run in series which offer a total of 232amps.

DIMENSIONS

Though all vehicles are considerably different, their outside dimensions are similar. Including Rear spare wheel The Length of the Imperial HF is 5.4metres The outside width is approx. 1900mm. When closed the height is approx 1400mm. The Quattro is identical to the Imperial HF in outside dimensions. The Elysium HF is Approx. 1900 wide, 5.6m long and 1450mm in height.
